• A waterfall is vertical drop in the upper course of the river.

• 1. A River flows over an area where hard rock and soft rock.
  2. soft rock erodes faster than hard rock , which creates a vertical drop (waterfall).
  3. at the base of plunge pool develops due to hydraulic action and abrasion. (Rocks scrape off the beds and banks of rivers)
  4. The rock above the plunge pool is undercut and left hanging eventually collapses and then the waterfall erodes its way upstream
