  • Serial dilutions allow you to make solutions with very low concentrations, without having to measure out very small volumes, and this improves accuracy.
  • Add 1 part bacteria culture to 9 parts water (to make 10⁻¹ dilution);
    Mix;
    Repeat using 9 parts water and 1 part of 10⁻¹ and 10⁻² dilutions to make the 10⁻³ dilution.
