  • The Trinity
    Christians believe in one God only, but they believe in three distinct characters of God that makes up the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit

  • Genesis 1
    Overview of creation: Light and Dark; Water and Sky; Land and Plant life; Sun, moon, and stars; Fish and birds; Land and animals and plants
  • Genesis 2 & 3
    Focuses on the development of humans: God creates Adam from Dust, and is placed in Garden of Eden. A&E are forced out when E eats the forbidden fruit
  • Ways the creation story can be understood
    • Metaphorical – the way the Bible says everything is not how it happened exactly
    • Literal – the story is literally true, God created world in 6, 24 hour days. Literalists don't believe in scientific explanations
  • The Word
    Jesus Christ "In the beginning was the Word"
  • The Spirit
    To protect what has and will be created
  • Incarnation
    Jesus is the incarnation of God: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us"
  • Jesus' Last Days
    1. Last supper – J predicts his death and Judas will betray him. (Eucharist)
    2. Betrayal, arrest and trial – J is brought to Sanhedrin, found guilty of blasphemy, flogged and crucified
    3. Crucifixion – nailed to a cross, darkness comes over, sacrifice for humanity's sins
    4. Resurrection – women find tomb empty; J was God & he was right
    5. Ascension – teaches disciples that they will receive holy spirit, witnessed ascending
  • Reasons why Jesus had to die
    • Fulfil prophecies that Messiah would suffer and die
    • Restore relationship between G & H
  • Reasons why Jesus didn't have to die
    • He was God so didn't have to die
    • God can forgive sins without sacrifice
    • Bible: God hates human sacrifices
  • Salvation
    • Jesus died for salvation of Humans
    • A & E disobeyed God so the relationship was destroyed
    • People were separated to God's love due to disobeying his commands (e.g. 10 C's)
    • Humans are at one with God through Jesus (atonement)
  • Christian ideas about afterlife
    • Heaveneternal peace and joy for followers of Christ
    • Hellpunishment and separation from God. Some don't believe in this. Non-B's will cease to exist after death
    • Purgatory – Catholics are made 'clean' of their sins
    • Judgement – Taught in Parable of Sheep and Goats. Fed hungry, clothed naked, welcome strangers...
    • Resurrection – God will raise spiritually. Raises questions about what our sprits will look like
  • Biblical Solutions to the Problem of Evil
    • Satan is the cause of suffering
    • Job suffered by God's plan
    • Psalm 119 reassures Christians that God is trustworthy
  • Theoretical Solutions to the Problem of Evil
    • Free will (A&E) is abused by humans
    • Suffering gives chance to improve character
  • Practical Solutions to the Problem of Evil
    • Christians take responsibility
    • Develop empathy & kindness
    • Help each other to improve
    • Pray for God's help and encouragement

  • Inportance of The Trinity :
    • Christians can understand God better through different characteristics.
    • The Trinity is a loving relationship between each person – just like a family.
    • Helps Christians to understand more about relationships.
  • Importance of Creation:
    • Shows God’s goodness; God’s creation is good.
    • God made humans in His image, humans have a unique place in creation.
    • God made humans stewards to share resources fairly.
  • Importance of Incarnation:
    • God cares so much for his creations; he sent his Son.
    • Christians can understand Jesus and God better because he was human. Trinity shown in Jesus’ baptism.
    • Jesus understood human suffering and challenges.
  • Importance of Savation:
    • Salvation gives possibility of eternal life.
    • Encourages to live like Jesus as he was the perfect role model.
    Atonement allows humans to reconcile with each other (good relationships)
