Female Friendships

• challenging marriage; negotiation of same-sex relationships within patriarchal structures
• what are the ways in which individuals can express their desires within a system that works against them (passion from within containment - exists within parameters)
• • Achieved through the construction of space (Utopian - literally done in Convent of Pleasure) → a projection of a distant, or perhaps alternate, reality. 
• • Using masculine rhetoric and conceits to negotiate feminine terms - derived from the opposite → is it merely used as a springboard? Is it outright rejected? Or is it embraced?
