  • Arthralgia - pain without swelling or redness in the joint
  • Arthritis - inflammation of the joint; most common types are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout.
  • Bursitis - inflammation of the bursae located between joints and the tendons
  • Fracture - breaking of bone
  • Gout - painful metabolic condition caused by uric acid crystals forming in the joints, frequently in the big toe, ankle or knee
  • Osteoarthritis - swelling and pain, primarily in weight-bearing joints, caused by calcium deposits in the joint capsules
  • Osteomalacia - softening of the bones resulting from inability to absorb calcium, caused by a vitamin D deficiency; often called rickets
  • Osteomyelitis - inflammation of the bones and bone marrow caused by a bacterial infection
  • Osteoporosis - bone disease involving decreased bone density, producing porous bones that can become brittle and easily broken
  • Rheumatoid arthritis - chronic inflammation of the joints caused by an autoimmune reaction involving of the joint connective tissue
  • Sarcoma - a malignant bone tumor
  • Scoliosis - lateral curvature of the spine with deviation either to the right or left that gives the spine the shape of an "S"
  • Spina bifida - congenital disorder characterized by an abnormal closure of the spinal canal resulting in the malformation of the spine
