  • series of case studies. There was a control group but it wasn’t an experiment.
  • looked at association between the two groups and experiences of separation
  • Participants
    44 thieves (symptom was stealing)
    control participant were 44 non thieves
    31 boys and 13 girls
    aged between 5 and 17 years old
  • The seriousness of their seriousness was graded. Grade 5 thieves being stealing for the longest time, some for more than 3 years. Grade 1 thieves have only committed one theft.
  • Average intelligence was also taken
    50% had an IQ score of 18-114 average being 100. A further 15 had a higher IQ and 2 had a core below 85
