• Kufr is disbelieving in any of the articles of faith in Islam.

• Kufr-at Takdheed implies disbelieving the divine truth or denying any of the articles of faith.
• Surah 39:32 (Az-Zumar)

  “And who does more wrong than one who utters lies against Allah and denies the truth (Islamic Monotheism), when it comes to Him? Is there no in Hell an abode for disbeliever”.
• Kufr Al-Ibaa ‘a wat Takab-bur Mat’at Tasdeeq implies rejection and pride to submit to Allah’s commandments after conviction of their truth.
• Surah 2:34 (Al-Baqarah)

  “And remember when we said to the Angels: Prostrate before Aadam! And they prostrated except Iblis. He refused and was proud and was of the disbeliever (Disobedient to Allah).
• Kufr ash-shak wal-az-Zam implies doubting in the six articles of faith.
• Surah 18:35-36 (Al-Kahf)

  “And he entered his garden while he was doing wrong to himself. He said. “I do not think that this ever perish”. And I do not think that the Hour (Day of Judgment) has not come. And even if I am sent back my Lord, I will surely find a better place than this when I return to Him."
• Al-Kufr al-Iraad this implies turn away the truth knowingly or deviating from the obvious sign which Allah has revealed.
• Surah 46:3 (Al-Ahqaf)

  “We did not create the heaven and the earth but with true purpose and for a specified term. But those who disbelieve are averse to that they are warned of”.
• An-Nifaaq implies hypocritical disbelief.


  Surah 63:2-3 (Al-Munaafiqun)

  “When the hypocrites come to you, they say, “We bear witness that you are indeed the messenger of Allah.” Allah knows that you are His messenger. But Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars. They have made their oaths a shield, and thus they have prevented (others) from the way of Allah. Surely evil is what they have been doing."
• Minor Kufr (Al_Kufr Al-Asghar) An Ni’mah refers to the aspect of disbelief does not exclude one from the fold of Islam. This implies disbelief manifesting itself in ungratefulness for Allah’s blessing or Favor.
• Surah 16:112 (An-Nahl)

  Allah gives an example: there was a town, secure and content with its sustenance coming in plenty from every place. Then it turns ungrateful to the bounties of Allah; so, Allah made it to taste hunger and terror (that covered it) like a garment, as recompense of what its people used to do.
• Abdullah Ibn Abbas reported that Prophet SAW said: I was shown the Hellfire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were disbelievers or ungrateful. He was asked, do they believe in Allah? Or they are ungrateful to Allah? He replied. “They are ungrateful to their husband and ungrateful for the favors and the (good charitable deeds) done to them. If you have been good (benevolent) to one of them for some time, and then she sees something in you (not to her liking) she will say, I have never received any good from you (Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree)
• Ar-Riyaa is the practice of performing any of the various forms of worship to be seen and praised by people.
