The first Philippine flag was sewn by Dona Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo, and Delfina Herbosa de Natividad in Hong Kong. It was first flown in battle on May 28, 1898 and formally unfurled during the declaration of Philippine Independence.
