  • Matched pair design is when you try to match both groups with key participant variables, making the groups as similar as possible.
  • strengths -
    • low order effects, improves study's internal validity.
    • low demand characteristics
    • reduces effects of individual differences
    • can use same set of stimulus material in both conditions.
  • limitations -
    • participant variables, hard to completely match variables so participants will always be slightly different
    • more participants required.
