• -          the economy refers to the production distribution and consumption of goods and services and findings in psychology can affect their system
• -          in memory and research on eyewitness testimony has shown that leading questions or post defence discussions can have an effect on a witnesses testimony and this research led to the police using the cognitive interview which is more effective and hence reduces the waste of money and space in prisons helping the economy
• -          social influence and its research on leading to social change focusing on minority influence can lead to changes in the economy for example union strikes make working conditions better and environmental campaigns like getting companies to reduce their waste and use of non renewable energy or health campaigns
• -          in attachment a study found that the father can take on the role of being a primary caregiver and if this were the case mothers could return to work there would be more flexible working arrangements within family units and therefore household could maximise their income and both mothers and fathers could effectively contribute to the economy
• -          psychopathology and its research on treatments like the cognitive behavioural therapy and rational emotive behaviour therapy for depression and drug therapy for OCD can affect the economy positively as workers with better mental health will be able to return to work and work more and have less time off of work because of their mental illness- however negatively cognitive behavioural therapy is very expensive on the NHS
