Circular Motion

Cards (7)

  • Frequency is how often a particle passes through a point (Hz)
  • Period is how long it takes for a particle to complete a cycle (s)
  • A Radian is the angle where the radius is equal to the arc length (360 = 2pi)
  • Angular Velocity is the rate of change of angular displacement (Rads/s)
  • Tangential (Linear) Velocity is the velocity of a particle moving in a circle and acts tangent to the circular path
  • Centripetal Force is the resultant force acting on a body moving at a constant speed in a circle and acts towards the centre of a circle
  • Centripetal Acceleration
In order for an object to maintain a circular path, its velocity must constantly be changing direction and accelerate toward the centre of the circular path
