ATP

• Adenosine Triphosphate is a nucleotide derivative that is a small immediate source of energy used in metabolic reactions
• ATP is made during respiration, using ATP Synthase to produce ADP + Pi into ATP via a condensation reaction
• ATP is hydrolysed into ADP + Pi by ATP Hydrolase
• The inorganic Pi released in ATP can transfer energy to make other compounds more reactive (Phosphorylation)
