If the breach of procedures is slight and has notoccurredbefore, the employee may only be given a verbalwarning which will not be recorded on their employmentrecord.
WrittenWarning
A more serious breach or a repeat of a previous breach will result in a formalwrittenwarning which is recorded as a disciplinarymeasure on the employee'srecord.
Suspension or Dismissal
A repeat of an offence following a formalwrittenwarning may result in dismissal from the organisation as the employee has continually failed to followguidelines and ignoredpreviouswarnings.
Referral to the Police
In addition to other organisationaldisciplinarymeasures, an employee may be reported to the police e.g. if there has been a danger to life.
Civil or CriminalProsecution
Referral to the police can result in prosecution for an employee.
