  • What is parental authority??
    Parental authority is the legal right and responsibility of parents to make decisions for their children.
  • What are the duties of children toward there parents?
    1. To love and respect them for as long as they live
    2. To obey them in all things, except sin
    3. To help them in their old age, or when they are sick and helpless
    4. To see that they receive the last scaraments and a Catholic funeral; if they are not catholic, encourage them to join the church
  • What is the last scaraments?
    It is a scarement that is given to a person that is usually going to die. Can only be given to someone once in their lifetime.
  • What is legitimate authority?
    This authority comes from God, when we do what we can to help the work of those in authority, we are serving God
  • What are the two types of sin?
    Mortal: "spiritual" death of the soul (separation from God). If we die without repenting we will lose Him for enternity
    Venial: Slight sins. They do not break our friendship in God, altough they injure it. They involve disobidence of the law od in sight (venial) matters.

  • Psychological abuse
    Encompasses various tactics to undermine an individual's self-confidence such as yelling, insults, threats, humiliation, and deliberate denial of emotional care or isolation
  • Physical abuse
    Ranges from pushing and shoving to hitting, beating, physical abuse with a weapon, torture, mutilation and murder
  • Sexual abuse
    Any form of non-consensual sexual activity, ranging from harassment, unwanted touching, to rape
  • Financial abuse
    Encompasses various tactics for total or partial control of an individual's finances, inheritance or employment income, including denying access to one's own financial records and knowledge about personal investments, income or debt, or preventing a partner from taking employment outside the home
  • Spiritual abuse
    Works to destroy an individual's culture or religious beliefs through ridicule or punishment, forcing someone to practice a religion, or adopt another one
  • What is the first stage in the cycle of abuse?
    Tension-building stage:
    Insults and other verbal attacks; minor abusive situations; victim tries to be compliant, "walks on eggshells" and feels helpless; atmosphere becomes increasingly more oppressive
  • What is the second stage in a cycle of abuse?
    The Violent episode: 
    Built-up tensions erupt into incidents ranging from severe verbal/ emotional abuse to physical/ sexual assault and can last from a few minutes to a few days, depending on the relationship. It is during this time that a woman is most likely to be seriously injured or killed by her partner.
  • What is the last stage in a cycle of abuse?
    The Honeymoon stage: 
    Following a violent episode, the abuser is usually contrite and attentive; the victim once again recognizes the person the person she first fell in love with and may be inclined to believe his promises to change.

    To guide us to make the right decisions in our life that would lead us closer to God.

    • Does not suffer needlessly, but neither does it run from suffering when running would be a denial of love

  • What is unconditional love?
    Unconditional love is love without limitations or conditions. A type of love that has "no strings" attached.

    ->God calls us to love our enemies
    -> God calls us to save sex till marrige
    -> God calls us to live as servants
    ->God calls us to love our neighbour

    ->Society tells us to hate our enemies
