Lenin

• During the NEP, lessons focused on the history of the revolution and technical education designed to help children work in factories
• Population declined due to Civil Warl famine and loss. Only 147 million by 1926 and % living in towns was still 18%
• Class structure significantly changed- those of upper, middle, kulak or clergy origins became non-people with civil rights
• Lenin encouraged a policy of 'loot the looter'. Tithes wre abolished and everyone was addressed as a comrade
• There was a more liberal attitude to family life- contraception and abortion was easily available
