• raine used PET scans to investigate brain differences in non-murderers and murderers pleading NGRI
• there were 39 males and 2 females
• the mean age was 34.3
• they were all referred to the university of california
• the control group was matched on sex , age and the 6 murders with SZ were matched with schizophrenics
• first the ppts were given a practice trials of continuous performance task
• 10 minutes later, they were given FDG injection
• 30 seconds before the injection, the task was started
• the ppt did the CPT for 32 minutes
• the ppt was then transferred to the PET scanner where the brain was scanned in 10 mm horizontal slices
