types of laws

Cards (3)

  • Dalton's law

In a gas mixture, the pressure exerted by each individual gas is independent of the pressures of other gases in the mixture
  • Boyle's Law
At constant temperature, pressure of the gas varies inversely with its volume
  • Laplace's law
If two spherical surfaces have the same surface tension, the smaller one will have the higher pressure. The pressure inside the alveoli is proportional to the surface tension and inversely proportional to the radius. Smaller alveoli have higher pressure and tend to collapse unless they are stabilized by surfactant or connected to a larger alveoli.
