  • The periodic table is made up of metals & non - metals.
  • Non-metals are on the right hand side of the periodic table.
  • Metals are on the left hand side of the periodic table.
  • The periodic table is made up of columns & rows.
  • Columns are called groups, they go across from top to bottom.
  • Rows are called periods, they go down from left to right.
  • There are 10 other columns between group 2 & 3 , they are called transition elements.
  • When elements are in the same group , they have similar properties.
  • We can locate an element by using it's group & period . Example ; Period 4 , Group 5 = Arsenic - As -
