Trial of Horatius

• When he was being paraded home. His sister realised that he killed her fiancée. So she started to shout out her dead husbands name. Enraged by this act he stabbed her in the heart.
• This act put Hostilius with a dilemma so he hired duumvirs, whi would convict Horatius of treason.
• Tullus then urged Horatius to appeal against the sentence. Horatius' father then pleaded for his sons life on the grounds that he has saved Rome and that his sister deserved he fate.
• Horatius was set free but his father had to perform certain religious ceremonies to be forgiveness from the gods for his crimes
• Horatia (sister) was buried in the same spot she had been killed on
