Part 6 - prescribes the requirements for issuing approvals to organizations for the maintenance, preventive maintenance, and modifications of aircraft and aeronautical products

Approved Maintenance Organization Certificate – required to be issued so that an AMO can be advertise
60 days – the minimum days before the date the deviation
5 years – validity of AMO certificate

Class 1 – aircraft of 5,700 kg maximum certificated take-off weight or less
Class 2 – aircraft over 5,700 kg maximum certificated take-off weight and up to, and including, 3,200 kg maximum certificated take-off weight
Class 3 – aircraft over 34,200 kg maximum certificated take-off weight
Class 4 – rotorcraft of 2,736 kg maximum certificated take-off weight or less
Class 5 – rotorcraft over 2,736 kg maximum certificated take-off weight
Class 6 – aircraft composed primarily of composite material, of 5,700 kg maximum certificated take-off weight or less
Class 7 – aircraft composed primarily of composite material, over 5,700 kg maximum certificated take-off weight
Powerplant ratings:
Class 1: Reciprocating engines
Class 2: Turbopropeller and turboshaft engines
Class 3: Turbojet and turbofan engines
Propeller ratings:
Class 1: Fixed-pitch and ground-adjustable propellers
Class 2: Variable-pitch propellers

Housing and facilities - shall be provided appropriate for all planned work ensuring, in particular, protection from weather
Storage facilities - shall be provided for parts, equipment, tools and material
Nominated Manager - shall represent the maintenance management structure of the AMO
No person may assign, nor shall any person perform maintenance functions for aircraft, unless that person has had a minimum rest period of 8 HOURS prior to the beginning of duty
No person may schedule a person performing maintenance functions for aircraft for more than 12 CONSECUTIVE HOURS of duty
In situations involving unscheduled aircraft unserviceability, persons performing maintenance functions for aircraft may be continued on duty for
- Up to 16 consecutive hours
- 20 hours in 24 consecutive hours
Following unscheduled duty periods, the person performing maintenance functions for aircraft shall have a mandatory rest period of 10 hours
The AMO shall relieve the person performing maintenance functions from all duties for 24 consecutive hours during any 7 consecutive day period
Certificate Of Return To Service - shall be issued by appropriately authorized certifying staff when satisfied that all required maintenance of the aircraft or aeronautical product has been properly carried out by the AMO
