• if nitrogen is not present then leaves turn yellow, stunted growth
• calcium is used in structure of cell wall and permeability of cell membrane
• if calcium is not present it can cause stunted growth, and leaves die quickly
• magnesium makes chlorophyll
• if magnesium is not present there is stunted growth and leaves turn orange
• phosphorus is used to make ATP in light dependant stage of photosynthesis
• if phosphorus is not present there is stunted growth and reduction of cellular growth in plant
• water provides mass flow system for transport of minerals and used in photosynthesis
• if water not present leaves turn brown and dry and there is stunted growth
