AIDs

• In order to develop AIDs, you must be HIV positive
• CD4 cells are 200/ul is a sign of HIV
• CD4 cells 400/ul and an opportunistic pathogen is another sign of HIV
• AIDs does not kill you, secondary infections do
• Wasting syndrome: rapid weightloss, fever and diarrhea for 30+ days
• AIDs can induce pneumonia, tuberculosis, malignancies and dementia
• Dementia is often the last stage of AIDs
