A territory over which no other country holds power or sovereignty.
Sovereignty
The ability of a place and its people to self-govern without any outside interference.
Nation
A group of people with a shared identity, culture, living in a set of land/territory.
Natural borders
Borders created as a result of physical features separating areas of land, e.g. rivers, mountains, oceans.
Cultural Borders
Borders created as a result of a divide in culture between two or more groups.
Artificial borders
Borders created as a result of political or colonial decision making, sometimes regardless of physical, ethnic, or cultural factors.

The extreme belief that their country is more important than any other country
Cultural heterogeneity
Where a society has a high level of cultural, and/or ethnic, diversity among its citizens; often resulting in a multi-lingual, multi-faith community.
Cultural Homogeny
A society where there is very little cultural or ethnic diversity and most people share cultural traits with one another, including language, religion, dress and diet.
Tax Haven
is a location notorious for lowtaxes or profitable bank saving schemes, leading to an increase in offshorebankaccounts there. e.g. British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Bermuda.
Neo-colonialism
The indirect actions by which developed countries exercise a degree of control over the development of their former colonies.
Corporate migration
Where a TNC changes its corporate identity, relocating its headquarters to a different country.
Transfer pricing
describes businesses selling their products to entities in other countries. For example, Starbucks UK could transfer products to their Starbucks Ireland entity.
Expatriate
Someone who has migrated to live in another state but remains a citizen of the state in which they were born.
