  • Holy Spirit – in the sacraments, He pours out His gifts on the recipients so that they can contribute to the continuous growth and spread of the Church.
                       – completes the Baptismal graces and offers the newly confirmed individual the strength
                          as a true witness of Christ.
  • Baptism – we receive seven special gifts from the Holy Spirit; these gifts are freely given to us to help  us live as followers of Jesus and to build up the Body of Christ, the Church.
  • Gifts of the Holy Spirit – are sealed and strengthened within us at Confirmation.
                                           – are strengths from above in which each individual puts the grace of His Baptism into practice through his life and acts as "witness" for Christ.
  • Confirmation – is one of the sacraments of Initiation that completes our incorporation with the 
                               Church.
                            – comes from Christ, because at the Last Supper he promised his disciples the Holy Spirit. He said, "If I do not go, the advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you" (Jn. 16:7; Jn. 20:21-22; Lk. 24:29).
    1. Wisdom – helps us to see and follow God's will.
    • We receive the gift of wisdom to help us understand the things of God, and to direct our whole life and all our actions to his honor and glory. Wisdom helps us see the world differently and from God's point of view.
  • 2. Understanding – helps us to love others as Jesus calls us to do.
    • This gift enables us to know more clearly the mysteries of faith.
  • 3. Counsel (Right Judgment) – aids us in making good choices
    • This gift of counsel helps us to discern what is right and what is  wrong. It assists us in our ability to choose the path of God.
  • 4. Knowledge – brings us to learn more about God and His plan and leads us to wisdom and understanding.
    • When we receive the gift of knowledge, it enables us to discover God's will in all things.
  • 5. Piety (Reverence) – makes possible for us to love and respect all that God has created.
    • The gift of piety helps us to love God, our merciful Father, and to obey his precepts out of love for him. It moves our heart from serving God out of duty and obligation into a relationship of love.
  • 6. Fortitude (Courage) – strengthens us to give witness to our faith in Jesus Christ.
    • While the gifts of knowledge and wisdom help us know what we should do, the gift of fortitude strengthens our will so that we can actually accomplish what is true, good and beautiful. This gift is sometimes called the gift of courage and helps a person stand firm, even when persecuted, in doing the right thing
  • 7. Fear of the Lord – helps us to see God's presence and love filling creation.
    • This gift helps us recognize that God is the Creator that moves us love Him that we do not want to offend him by our words or actions. This gift helps us to understand how we must depend on God for everything. In other words, he is God, we are not.
  • 9 Fruits of the Holy Spirit – the Holy Spirit's character traits; reveals who God is in our lives.
    1. Love – helps us to become devoted and faithful to God by showing good attitude towards ourneighbor freely giving without expecting anything in return.
  • 2. Joy – helps us understand that true happiness comes not from money or possessions, but from knowing and following Christ.
  • 3. Peace – makes us united with others by the practice of fairness in our relationship with others.
  • 4. Patience – allows us to treat others with thoughtfulness and understanding. It gives us ability to handle difficulties in life or at the hands of others without thinking revenge.
  • 5. Kindness – helps us treat others as we want to be treated.
  • 6. Generosity – helps us share our gifts and possessions with others. We can offer not only money, food and clothing but also sharing our time and support to someone.
  • 7. Faithfulness – keeps us loyal to God and to the Church; makes us fulfill our responsibilities and promises and in being true to our words.
  • 8. Gentleness – helps us act calmly and avoid actions that might lead others to anger and hate. It 
                               allows us to forgive others and correct mistakes.
  • 9. Self-Control – strengthens us to overcome the temptations we face in our life and in seeking always to do God's will.
  • Holy of Holies -where it is believed that God is present.
  • The prophets reminded the people that God is not in the temple, but is with them, the community of believers.
  • The Church – is the people called by God to share the same faith, who believe in the same moral teachings and the same sacraments and who are united in their love for Jesus; is a group of people called by God to achieve holiness in life. This holiness is not possible without the Holy Spirit
  • Unlike the temple in Jerusalem that was destroyed, the Church, the temple of the Holy Spirit, cannot be destroyed.
