Using a potometer to estimate transpiration rate
1. Cut shoot at a slant to increase surface area for water uptake
2. Attach shoot to potometer and insert into water
3. Remove from water and keep end of capillary tube in water
4. Allow time for shoot to take up water
5. Remove end of capillary tube from water and observe air bubble movement
6. Record distance moved by air bubble over time
7. Calculate transpiration rate from distance moved by bubble
