Speech writing is the art of conveying a message to the audience through words. It isn't much different than essay writing.
It follows the full format of an essay – from the Introduction, the Body (contents) and the Conclusion
Informative – provides useful and interesting information about a particular topic such as an unknown idea or subject.
Persuasive – is used to persuade the audience with a particular idea or thought, in the hope to convince the audience to agree with the speaker’s perspective.
Entertainment or SpecialOccasionSpeeches – are delivered on some specific occasions, or events.
Informative Speech – provides the audience with a clear understanding of the concept or idea presented by the speaker.
Persuasive Speech – provides the audience with well-argued ideas that can influence their own beliefs and decisions.
Entertainment Speech – provides the audience with amusement.
AUDIENCE ANALYSIS means looking into the profile of your target audience.
Demography – This refers to statistical characteristics of your listeners - age; gender ratio; educational background; nationality; economic status; religious orientation; academic or corporate designations
Situation – occasion or event; venue; time; size – knowledge about the expectations of the occasion or event is very essential.
Psychology – values, beliefs, attitudes, preferences, cultural ideologies and even knowledge about your topic
The PURPOSE for writing and delivering the speech can be classified into three – to inform, to entertain, or to persuade.
Your SPECIFIC PURPOSE is a statement or goal for your audience. It is the outcome of your speech.
The TOPIC is your main point, which can be determined once you have decided on your purpose.
This topic is stated in a THESIS STATEMENT, which is usually a single statement, worded as simply as possible.
GATHERING DATA is the stage where you collect ideas, information, sources and references relevant or related to your specific topic.
