CATFISH

• Seed supply in the wild, reproduce in response to environmental stimuli such as rise in water level and inundation of low-lying areas
• In captivity, hormones used are Ovaprim, deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA), human chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG)u
• Catfish brood stock, Healthy females are 25-30 cm long and 200-320 g weight
• In catfish brood stock, Healthy males are 20-25 cm and 100-170 g weight
• Catfish is harvested after 24-28 days at 5-7g
• Survival of larvae to fingerlings in properly managed nursing systems averages 25-35 percent
• Catfish is normally harvested at sizes of 20-40 cm (about 250-500grams)
