However Russia is resource rich on its own terms and does not strictly need Ukrainian resources so it doesn't make sense why Russia would want Ukraine's resources.
With Russia Seizing control of resources weakens the Ukrainian economy and hampers its ability to defend itself which creates a massive advantage for Russia when attacking Ukraine.
