• What happens during this scene

  after killing Duncan, Macbeth and lady macbeth are discussing
• Lady Macbeth didn’t kill Duncan because he looks like her father, which is her weakness


  “ has he not resembled my father as he slept”
• Lady Macbeth believes she heard this, nature is upset and being disturbed - supernatural


  “ I heard the owl scream and the crickets cry”
• Macbeth feels guilty which is his weakness

  “ I am afraid to think what I have done”
• Foreshadowing later in the play when she feels she can’t wash off the guilt - ironic


  “ and wash this filthy witness from your hand”
• Macbeth is changing the natural order of things and God couldn’t clean macbeths guilt

  “ Will all great Neptunes ocean wash this blood clean from my hands?”
