headlands and bays

• headlands and bays form when there are alternating bands of ahrd and soft rock perpendicular to the sea.
• the hard rock such as chalk form headlands.
• soft rocks such as clay form the bays.
• the soft rock id eroded more easily than the hard rock.
• this is called 'differential' erosion.
