    Catholics believe that Jesus is the second person in the Holy Trinity; God the son
  • I -> Incarnation
    Incarnation means becoming flesh. God became man through Jesus to set a example to allow our salvation. Jesus is both fully human and fully divine.
    Fully human - felt human and suffered a human death
    Fully divine - Preformed miracles and rose from the dead
  • M -> Messiah
    Means anointed one. He revealed himself as the Messiah through his Miracles. Proof that Jesus is the chosen one through his resurrection from the dead and the miracles he performed. Simon told Jesus "You are the Messiah"
  • S -> Salvation
    Jesus' crucifixion allowed our salvation. Jesus dying on a cross saved us from sin. Barrier of sin was destroyed as shown by the curtain in the temple was torn in 2. Because of his crucifixion we are allowed to be reconciled with God. "For God so loved the word that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes him shall not parish but have eternal life" - John 3:16
  • A -> Atonement
    Jesus' death allowed relationship between man and God to be restored (at one). This is because Jesus had destroyed the barrier of sin
  • W -> Word of God
    Jesus spread the word of God through parables such as the Good Samaritan which teaches agape. In the Old Testament the word was revealed through prophets and in the New Testament the word was revealed through Christ himself
  • R -> Resurrection
    Catholics believe that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday as told in all 4 gospels
  • E -> Eternal life
    Jesus will live forever. Catholics believe that at the ascension, Jesus rose into heaven to prepare a place for us and that he will come again in the end to judge us. Taught in parable Sheep and Goat
