Rosa Parks

• famous for breaking one segregation law: black passengers had to make room for white ones (Montgomery, Alabama in 1955)
• refused to sit in the back of the bus
• consequences: 1. was fined to pay 10 dollars 2. was arrested 3. Alabama bus boycott
• bus boycott: other black people and people from other races felt sorry/sympathy (Mitleid) for her and organized the boycott, which lasted 381 days
• result of the boycott: desgregration (Aufhebung der Rassentrennung) of bus system
• started a wave of protests which affected the whole US
• it's very courageous/brave to be the first black person to break American'S segregation law
• she wanted everyone to have the same civil rights and to be treated equally
