• Majority-Minority District


  A district where the majority is a minority
• When the redrawing of districts happened after the Census, the Voting Rights Act made it clear that districts could not be drawn to diminish the voting power of minority voters. The Court upheld majority rights.
• The Court declaring race-based segregation in schools was unconstitutional; violated the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection clause. The Court upheld minority rights.
• SCOTUS laws & state laws upholding the separate but equal doctrine restricting African Americans due to segregation compared to the majority white.
