Gravitational fields

• Gravitational fields is the region around a mass where another mass experiences a force of attraction.
• Gravitational field strength is the gravitational force per unit mass.
• Gravitational potential at a point is the amount of work done to bring a unit mass from infinity to that point in the gravitational field.
• Newton's law of gravitational states that the force of attraction between two bodies is directly proportional to the product of their masses and is inversely proportional the square of the distance separating the centres.
• Geostationary orbit is the equatorial path at a fixed distance from centre of earth along which geostationary satellite revolve in the same direction and rate as that of the spinning earth.
• Escape velocity is the minimum speed required by an object to escape from the gravitational pull of a planet or moon
