    • when streets are pedestrianised they are shown to have increased footfall, which means the local businesses are more profitable
    • pedestrianised streets are safer as there are no cars so accidents are less likely
    • pedestrianised streets are also cleaner as there is no air pollution
    • pedestrianised streets are also quieter and so more pleasant to shop in
  • low emission zoning
    • LEZ means that only more modern cars which have a lower carbon footprint (i.e emits less CO2 from their exhausts) are allowed in the CBD.
    • this makes the air cleaner and healthier for people who live and work in the CBD.
  • implementation of E-bikes
    • E-bikes encourage people to cycle rather than drive into the CBD.
    • this improves the quality of the environment as well as making the roads less busy
