Tobacco mosaic virus

• TMV is a very widespread plant infection. TMV infects a number of different plant species including tomatoes.
• TMV causes the leaves to discolour in a mosaic pattern.
• Because of the discolouration caused by TMV, the rate of photosynthesis is reduced. This means that the growth of the plant is also reduced.
