    1. list all species present
    • aq = water; list H2O
    • SA = list H+ and conj. anion
    • "in acid" = H+
    • "basic solution" = list OH-
    • List soluble salts as ions (dissociated)
    • insoluble: list as solids
  • 2. classify/label entities present as OA and RA
    • Some are both OA and RA (ie. H2O)
  • 3. Select the strongest OA and RA
    • transitional metals - consider combinations of substances
  • 4. write out half rxn as written in DATA BOOKLET
    • 1/2 rxn for the SRA needs to be reversed
  • 5. balance the number of electrons and check charges
  • 6. add half rxns togeather; cancel entities and predict if spon or non-spon
