  • Advantages of Autocratic:
    1. allows for quicker decision making.
    2. Works well in an environment where clear directive leadership is needed.
  • Disadvantages of Autocratic:
    1. Can have a negative impact on employee motivation.
    2. Creates a culture of dependency.
  • Advantages of Democratic:
    1. Employees are motivated because they feel values and listened to.
    2. Encourages employees to grow and develop into their roles.
  • Disadvantages of Democratic:
    1. decision making may take time due to everyone needing to come to an agreement.
    2. Staff agender may be unreliable.
  • Advantages of Laissez Faire:
    1. Suitable for creative environments.
    2. Encourages innovation and new ideas.
  • Disadvantages of Laissez Faire:
    1. Lack of supervision may lead to poor productivity.
    2. Can be regarded as avoiding responsibility.
  • Advantages of Paternalistic:
    1. loyalty from employees who feel protected and cared for.
    2. Effective where lots of low skilled who require guidance.
  • Disadvantages of Paternalistic:
    1. Not using skills and knowledge of employees.
    2. If wrong decision is made, it can demotivate, so productivity will suffer.
