He was helped by the French and defeated the British in the 2nd Anglo-Mysore War and forced the British to accept the Treaty of Mangalore in 1784. The EIC defeated him in the 3rd Anglo-Mysore War in 1789. Lord Wellesley’s army defeated and killed him in the 4th Anglo-Mysore War in 1799 in his fort of Seringapatam.
