Opera is an art and music form in which singers and musicians perform a dramatic work combining text (called a libretto) and a musical score, usually in an elaborate theatrical setting. The dialogue is entirely sung and not spoken.
Opera was first introduced in the Philippines in 1878 through the Zarzuela, which was eventually called Sarswela after adapting to local culture and later on known as local opera
