Photosynthesis

Cards (3)

  • Limiting factors for photosynthesis:
    • Chlorophyll concentration.
    • Carbon dioxide concentration.
    • Temparature.
    • Light intensity.
  • Products of glucose:
    • Celluose - used to strengthen cell walls.
    • Proteins - use for cell growth and repair
    • Starch - Insoluble, stored stems, leaves or roots.
    • Fats - stored in structure such as seeds.
  • Practical:
    1. Put aquatic plant in a beaker that contains water.
    2. Put the beaker that now contains water and aquatic plant in the water bath.
    3. Alter the temparature of the water bath for different runs of the experiment.
    4. Wait 10 minutes (for plant to acclimatise), to measure phtosynthetic rate (by counting amount of bubbles produced or getting a syringe and calculate the volume of bubbles produced).
