Marriage

• Chistains ans Muslims marriage is:

  • given by God
  • the best environment for children
  • a lifelong commitment
• Humanists:

  • value a special ceremony for commitment but do not include religion
• Christians:

  • see marriage as a sacremanetal gift from God
  • jesus teaches on the importance of marriage "two become one in flesh" in lifelong union
  • marriages take place on church
• Mulsims:

  • see marriage as the basis for family life
  • Qu'ran shows it is a gift from Allah
  • takes place at a mosque but smometimes can be at the bride's home
  • some Shi'a muslims practice nikah mut'ah- a temporaty unannounced marriage. Historically, it allowed men to take a wife when travelling away from home but Sunni and other Shi'a muslims disagree wuh this idea
