Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic cells

Cards (7)

  • What is a Eukaryote?
Organism with cells that have a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
  • What is a prokaryote?

A prokaryote is a single-celled organism that lacks a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles.
  • Where can Eukaryotes be found?
    Animal and plant cells
  • Where can Prokaryotes be found?
    Bacteria
  • What is in an animal cell?
Nucleus- DNA: Controls the activity in the cell.
    Cytoplasm-Where chemical reactions happen.Contains enzymes
Cell membrane- Holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out.
    Mitochondria-Where aerobic respiration takes place.
    Ribosomes- where proteins are made.
  • What is in a plant cell?
Cell Wall- Made of cellulose and supports the cell and strengthens it.
Permanent Vacoule- Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts.
Chloroplasts- Where photosynthesis occur.Makes food for the plant.
Also includes many of the bits in animal cellz.
  • What are in bacteria cells?
    Cell membrane
    Cytoplasm
    Cell Wall
    Single Circular strand of DNA
    Plasmids
