    A book that is written and illustrated in the style of a comic book. Graphic novels are similar to comic books because they use sequential art to tell a story. Unlike comic books, graphic novels are generally stand-alone stories with more complex plots.

Drawings enhance the story, often adding humorous elements that would be missing if the illustrations were omitted.

    A form of digital poetry that uses links using hypertext mark-up. It is a literature that uses the computer screen as medium, rather than the printed page. This genre is also called cyber-poetry that refers to works of verse which could not be presented without a computer since it contains links to sub-poems or footnotes, poetry "generators," poetry with movement or images.

    A genre of fiction, defined as a very short story. There is no set word count that separates flash fiction from more traditional short stories, flash fiction as short as a few words. Flash fiction is a favored genre among the English-speaking world's most celebrated writers for its ability to convey deep truths and universal human emotions in just a few short paragraphs.

Creative nonfiction encompasses texts about factual events that are not solely for scholarly purposes.
