  An imaginative awareness of experience expressed through meaning, sound and rhythmic language choices to evoke an emotional response. It is a type of writing that uses language to express imaginative and emotional qualities instead of adding meaning to it.

  A story or narrative told through words complemented by illustrated images. In most illustrated fiction, 50% of the narrative is presented without words while some may not contain any text at all, so the reader must interpret the images to comprehend the story completely.

  A book that is written and illustrated in the style of a comic book. Graphic novels are similar to comic books because they use sequential art to tell a story. Unlike comic books, graphic novels are generally stand-alone stories with more complex plots.

• Manga


  A style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels, typically aimed at adults as well as children. Manga are graphic novels or comics drawn in black and white. Manga, in Japanese, means "flowing words" or "Undisciplined words". It is an ancient art that has been used for centuries as a form of entertainment.

  A literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle writing and drawings and handwritten graphics in place of the traditional font. Doodle Fiction incorporates handwritten graphics in telling the story, it is a literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle drawings and handwritten graphics in place of traditional font. Drawings enhance the story, often adding humorous elements that would be missing if the illustrations were omitted.

  A form of digital poetry that uses links using hypertext mark-up. It is a literature that uses the computer screen as medium, rather than the printed page. This genre is also called cyber-poetry that refers to works of verse which could not be presented without a computer since it contains links to sub-poems or footnotes, poetry "generators," poetry with movement or images.

  A genre of fiction, defined as a very short story. There is no set word count that separates flash fiction from more traditional short stories, flash fiction as short as a few words. Flash fiction is a favored genre among the English-speaking world's most celebrated writers for its ability to convey deep truths and universal human emotions in just a few short paragraphs.

  A genre of writing that uses literary styles and techniques to create factually accurate narratives. Creative nonfiction encompasses texts about factual events that are not solely for scholarly purposes. Creative nonfiction may include memoir, personal essays, feature-length articles in magazines, and narratives in literary journals.

  A contemporary Bicolano writer in Filipino, Bikol and English, awarded as one of the Outstanding Bikolano Artists for 2009 in the Literary Arts category
• In 2012, Abdon M. Balde Jr. was named Poet laureate of Albay
• Abdon M. Balde Jr. is a councillor of the organization Lupon Sa Wika, a member of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and director of the Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas
