  • A Project Proposal sometimes referred to as ‘Terms of Reference’, is a document used to present the general plan and justification to pursue a project. It is usually two to four pages in length. The purpose of writing a project proposal is to serve as a guide, to get funding, to convince people to participate, and to serve as a reference for evaluating the project
  • A proposal stands out depending on its ability to clearly answer questions about what is being proposed, how the plan will be carried out, when it will be implemented, and
how much money will be needed or spent. In other words, they are persuasive documents that need to do the following: highlight reader benefits, prove your credibility in carrying out the project, and allow the reader to respond easily.
  • As a student, you have been familiarized with writing proposals - maybe even without you knowing it. Whenever you envision, plan, and complete a project for your science class or your club outreach, you are thinking about fulfilling a need for something. This process may involve writing a paper or doing a presentation in front of an audience to get their approval. While proposal writing may seem like an intimidating task, they can be
made easier by following the guidelines in writing and familiarizing yourself with the parts of a project proposal. (Projectmanager 2018)
