  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

    The inculcation of advanced knowledge, skills, and ethical values in a post-licensure specialization or in an inter- or multidisciplinary field of study, for assimilation into professional practice, self-directed research and/ or lifelong learning
  • CPD is a mandatory requirement in the renewal of professional license and accreditation system for the practice of professions
  • CPD is hereby made as a mandatory requirement in the renewal of the Professional Identification Card (PIC) of all registered and licensed professionals under the regulation of PRC
  • Validated and recognized CPD credit units shall be earned by a professional and shall be accumulated and transferred in accordance with Pathways and Equivalencies of the PQF
  • Objectives of Continuing Professional Development
    • Continuously improve the quality of the country's reservoir of registered professionals by updating them on the latest scientific/ technological/ ethical and other applicable trends in the local and global practice of the professions
    • Provide support to lifelong learning in the enhancement of competencies of Filipino professionals towards delivery of quality and ethical services both locally and globally
    • Deliver quality continuing professional development activities aligned with the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) for national relevance and global comparability and competitiveness
  • Continuing Professional Development Council
    • Chairperson- a member of the PRB so chosen by the PRB concerned to sit in the CPD council
    • First member- President of the designated person by the Accredited Professional Organization of PRC
    • Second member- president or any representative authorized by the organization of deans or department heads of schools, colleges or universities

    • Ethics
    • Standards of Professional Practice (e.g. laws, rules, PRB/commission and other related issuances)
    • Enhancement of Professional Practice and Technical Competence
  • Continuing Professional Education (CPE)

    The inculcation, assimilation, and acquisition of knowledge, skills, proficiency and ethical and moral values, after the initial registration of a professional that raised and enhances the professional's technical skills and professional competence
  • Continuing Professional Education Legal Basis
    • EO 226- Institutionalization of the CPE Programs of the various Professional Regulatory Boards under the supervision of PRC
    • PRC resolution # 381 series of 1995- Standardized guidelines for the implementation of CPE for all Professionals
    • PRC resolution # 99-624 which repealed the regulation that requires professional to undergo CPE to be able to renew their license

    • To provide and ensure the continuous education of a registered professional with the latest trends in the profession brought about by modernization and scientific-technological advancement
    • To raise and maintain the professional capability for delivering professional services
    • To attain and maintain the highest standard and quality of practice of his profession
    • To make the professional globally competitive
    • To promote the general welfare of the public
  • Continuing Professional Education CPE Credit Units
    • 60 credit units for Baccalaureate Degree every 3 years
    • 30 credit units for non-baccalaureate degree every 3 years
    • Any excess shall be carried over for the next 3 years
    • A requirement for renewal of license

    • 65 years and above
    • Those working abroad
