    compare results from part 1 to results from previous study which was done in 2010, looked into older patients/ patients with dementia.

    same procedure as part 1, but data was compared with digit span gathered on children ages between 5-17
  • results?
    • elderly group had higher digit span than 5-6 year olds
    • digit span of elderly wasn't significantly different to other year groups
    • patients with alzheimers was higher than 5 year olds only.
    • patients with other dementia types had digit spans similar to younger groups 5-6
  • conclusions?
    phonological loop is affected by age in general but not so much by demenia. Healthy elderly controls have a digit span similar to 7 year olds and dementia patients similar to 6 year olds
