  • What is mitosis?
    • mitosis is when a diploid body cell splits to produce two genetica identical diploid daughter cells.
    • This happens over five stages - Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase , Telophase and Cytokinesis
  • Why is cell cycle important?

    Cells need to be able to repair themselves and grow in order to remain alive. In multicellular organisms, this is achieved through the process of the cell cycle.
  • How do cancer tumours occur?

    • healthy cells only undergo mitosis when they need to
    • Cancerous cells undergo uncontrolled mitotic division
    • A group of cancerous cells from lumps called tumours which can damage the body in several ways.
