  • Film
    It is also called a movie or motion picture. It is a series of still images on a plastic strip which, when run through a projector and shown on the screen, creates the illusion of moving images. The film encompasses individual motion pictures, the field of film as an art form, and the motion picture industry
  • Action Film
    It is a film with a fast-moving plot, usually containing scenes of violence.

    It is a genre that revolves around the conquests and explorations of a protagonist.

    Are serious presentations or stories with settings or life situations that portray realistic characters in conflict with either themselves, others, or forces of nature.
  • Epic Film
    Often takes a historical or imagined event, mythic, legendary, or heroic figure, and adds an extravagant setting and lavish costumes, accompanied by grandeur and spectacle and a sweeping musical score.
  • Horror Film
    It may incorporate incidents of physical violence and psychological terror; they may be studies of deformed, disturbed, psychotic, or evil characters; stories of terrifying monsters or malevolent animals; or mystery thrillers that use atmosphere to build suspense
  • Musical Film
    It is a film in which the songs of the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing. Elaborate as "production numbers".
  • Sci-fi Film
    It is a genre of speculative fiction, which typically deals with imaginative and futuristic concepts such as advanced science and technology, space exploration, time travel, parallel universes, and extraterrestrial life
  • War Film
    It is a film genre concerned with warfare, typically about naval, air, or land battles, with combat scenes central to the drama.
  • Western
    are often characterized by their iconic visual and narrative elements, including cowboys, gunslingers, rugged landscapes of the American West.
  • Detective Film
    It can be defined as a film that focuses on a detective hero's investigation into the mystery, however, detective films vary in terms of content and themes and often cross over into other genres, including science fiction
  • Disaster Film
    It is a film genre that has an impending or ongoing disaster as its subject and primary plot device. Such disasters may include natural disasters, accidents, military/terrorist attacks or global catastrophes such as a pandemic.
  • Fantasy films
    Are films that belong to the fantasy genre with fantastic themes, usually magic, supernatural. The genre is considered a form of speculative fiction
  • Romance films
    love stories recorded in visual media for broadcast in theatres or on television that focus on passion, emotion, and the affectionate
  • Thriller Film
    Also known as suspense film or suspense thriller, is a broad film genre that evokes excitement and suspense in the audience.
  • Mise-en-scene
    From the French word “put on the scene”, This aspect of film form includes everything that appears before the camera within a shot.
  • Cinematography
    This is the general term for all manipulations of film strips by the camera in the shooting phase.
  • Time
    Actual Length or duration of the film.
    Diegetic Time or time that is the result of the story or narrative.
  • Motion
    Motion pictures, whether video or film, give the illusion of motion through the movement of many still frames through a projector. Because of the physical property of the eye and brain called the “persistence of vision” you can perceive the illusion of motion picture technology. This illusion of motion distinguishes motion pictures from still photography.
  • Sound
    Is a powerful film technique. It can actively shape how we perceive and interpret the image.
  • Diegetic sound
    includes any voice, musical passage, or sound effect
  • Non-Diegetic sound
    Mood music or narrator’s commentary represented as coming from outside the narrative space
  • Editing
    The editor and director together will decide the length and order of the shots and piece them together to create a sequence.
  • Music
    It is the art of combining vocal and instrumental sounds or both to produce beauty of form , harmony and expression of emotion.
  • Program Music
    It is a type of art music that attempts to musically render an extra musical narrative. The narrative itself is offered to the audience in the form of program notes, inviting imaginative correlations with the music
  • Absolute Music
    It is a music that is not explicitly “about” anything; in contrast to program music, it is nonrepresentational and is primarily intended to be appreciated without any particular reference from the outside world.
  • Worship
    Music can be used for worshipping the Almighty. Music has been used in religious and spiritual activities.
  • Emotional Expression
    Music releases our emotions. Music is used to pour out the emotions of people, no matter how we feel, there is always a corresponding music to fit what we feel today
  • Entertainment
    Music is also used for entertainment and to kill boredom by giving us the joy of listening experience when we hear it and respond.
  • Physical Response
    Listening to fast-paced, upbeat music helps runners to run quicker pace.
  • Sound
    Is produced by vibrations. Produced when an object vibrates and it is what can be perceived by living organisms.
  • Vibrations
    Can be regular and irregular. Regular vibrations create pleasing sounds or tones. Irregular vibrations create unpleasant sounds and are usually considered as noise
  • Silence
    is the absence of sound or noise
  • Classical
    a traditional genre of music conforming to an established form and appealing to critical interest and developed musical taste. Many styles of music exist within classical music the most recognizable being the symphony and opera.
  • HipHop
    a style of popular music, typically consisting of a rhythmic, rhyming vocal style called rapping. Over backing beats and scratching performed on a turntable by a DJ. Hip-hop music ics the cultural context of rap music found in the urban style of dress, speech and art
  • oldies
    a term commonly used to describe a radio format that usually concentrates onmusic from the 50’s, 60’s
  • pop
    an ample and imprecise category of modern music not defined by artistic considerations but by its potential audience or prospective market. It is very electric, often borrowing elements from other styles.
  • Rhythm and Blues
    a popular music genre combining jazz, gospel, and blues influences, first performed by African Americans artists. It retained an emphasis on vocals while adding a more pronounced beat characteristic of the blues.
