  • Photography – is the art of capturing images through a camera.
                           – process  involves capturing or recording light either chemically through light-sensitive 
    materials such as film or electronically through the use of an image sensor
              – considered as an artistic form of expression.
             – science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other 
    electromagnetic radiation
             – comes from the Greek words, photo and graph meaning drawing with light
  • Camera – is a device used for taking photographs.
  • These negatives were then projected on photosensitive paper inside a dark room
  • Chemicals are then used in the process of developing the image to the paper.
  • These images are then digitized and stored as files. This technology is called digital photography.
  • Lens – made of glass and is used to let light into the camera.
  • Viewfinder – is the area on the camera where you look through to take a shot.
  • Mode Dial – allows the photographer to customize settings or to select different options such as 
           automatic mode, program mode, sport mode, or macro mode.
  • Focus Ring – a ring found on the lens that allows manual control of the camera's focus.
  • Shutter Release Button – is the button on the camera that is used to snap the picture.
  • LCD Screen – used to view and change options and settings and to view pictures after they are shot.
    1. Balance – is arranging the elements in an artwork so that there is equality from one side to the 
                     other as seen in the sample pictures.
  • Asymmetrical balance – refers to informal balance and is a bit more difficult to achieve due to the 
    complexity of the image.
  • Symmetric balance – a formal balance achieved when both sides of the image hold equal weight.
  • The Rule of Thirds – suggests that subjects for a photograph should be placed on either of the four 
    critical points.
  • 2. Harmony – is a consistent, orderly, or pleasing arrangement of colors.
  • 3. Pattern / Rhythm / Repetition –  is repeating an element or motif in a specific way or manner.
  • 4. Unity –  is taking the parts of a piece of art and unifying them into something better as a whole by 
        applying digital effects available in editing the picture.
  • 5. Contrast – is similar to adding contrast to an image overall. You can create contrast in an image by using complementary colors or differences in light and dark.
  • 6. Proportion –  is using the size of an object to give it more or less importance. 
  • Flash – you need light to take a picture. Most digital cameras have a built-in flash or you can buy I as a clip-on accessory.
  • Navigation Buttons – allow you to navigate the menu and make changes.
  • Zoom Control – operates the zoom function of the lens to magnify the images.
  • Movement – create the look and feeling of action.
